Weighing In…
By Groovybabe • Jun 16th, 2007 • Category: diet, eating healthily, stuggling, weighing in, weightloss rulesI have never been one for following rules and regulations so it was hardly surprising that I chose to dismiss the rule of weighing in once per week. When I was younger I would weigh in when I woke up, before lunch, after lunch, before dinner and before bed. These days I am much more sensible and constrict it to once per day: in the morning after the toilet and before breakfast. That is unless it gives me a reading that I don’t want and then I can be on them all day long urging them to tell me what I want to hear.
However, I do normally see a downward spiral when on a good eating plan so it is not normally an issue. But the last three or four days I have been, well it’s not flatuating because it’s constant, struggling to lose. At first I didn’t pay any attention because it is well documented that this is nothing out of the ordinary when you weigh daily. We’re into the third or fourth day of it now and not only have I not lost but almost 2lbs have gone on. I just do not understand it. I have been writing down everything I eat in a pad and I know I am not over eating. I even signed up for a trial at WLR and input everything in there to make sure I wasn’t over eating and I was spot on the amount I should be having (around 1600 calories). I even did a mega workout with cardio and weights yesterday that has left me shattered today and no shift. Unless my scales are wrong (they are old digital ones) but then they should still show a drop even if they say the wrong weight. I’m taking Xenical too, which should reduce my calorific intake. I am wondering whether it was my lack of drinking water for a couple of days, as mentioned in my last post, that has caused my weight to stagnate.
Who knows? I am sure it will sort itself out. But just to help it along I am going to cut down on my food intake for a few days, just in case I am miscalculating my calories. I normally have a big salad with my dinner. The last few days I have been thinking it is a bit much for one meal. And I always get really hungry in the evening where I binge on fruit so I think I may go without the salad at dinner and then have it later in the evening if I get hungry. And also stay away from carbs in the evening. We’ll see how that works.
My night on the town tonight has been cancelled (blub!) so at least I will save calories from my alcoholic binge… I think I’ll work on my book instead. Oh, yes. I do know how to live it large on a Saturday night.
Groovybabe is 14.11 stones today and has lost 6lbs at her last weigh in.

Hi! I just wanted to stop by and say thank you for the comment on my blog. Please understand, what I wrote about Alli is just my opinion. If Xenical is working for you, then great.
I read what you said about not losing. Do you think maybe because you’re exercising and lifting weights that maybe your body is adjusting? That was my first thought. I think cutting down on carbs is a good idea. I started cutting my carbs way down last Sunday (I was eating more carbs per day than anything else I discovered) and I’ve lost weight almost every morning (I’m one of those people who weigh everyday when I get up) LOL! I’ve done it for about 6 years now, but It doesn’t determine what kind of day I’ll have. If I’m down that day… great! If I’m up… well it just lets me know I need to watch what I’m doing a little more closely.
Anyway, great blog! Glad I stopped by. Thanks!
Thanks for your comment. You could be right about my body adjusting. Like you, I have been weighing daily for years now and I have never stagnated like this before but I understand that one day I will just lose suddenly, well I hope so anyway! I have been out and bought new scales (ww ones that measure weight, bmi, fat weight, fat percentage and water!) so I could find out tomorrow that I am a whole different weight to that which I thought I was!
I am also thinking about cutting bread out of my diet altogether. I only have a couple of slices but I wonder if I’d lose more eating, say, Ryvita…
I have exactly the same philosophy as you when it concerns weighing in every day. I normally see a loss most days too, I’ve never really had an issue with fluctuations before now. Anyway, Hopefully it will be over before we know it!
Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
