Food, Glorious Food
By Groovybabe • Jul 18th, 2007 • Category: diet management, eating healthily, exercise, food, gym, stuggling, weightgain, weightlossWe have had the bathroom redecorated and this has meant re-hooking the bathroom cabinet/mirror on the wall. Only they’ve put it too high and literally all I can see is my nose and above, just like in my header picture! Not seeing in the mirror is not a bad thing though!
So, you know how I was 17.10 last Friday, and then I went up to 17.13 at the end of the week? Well I am now back to 17.11 and a half. So whie it is not brilliant, I am getting there. I’d like to get down to 17.9 at least by Friday so I can say I have had an actual loss but I am not holding my breath. I’d need to lose 2 and a half pounds in the next two days. :S Yeah, my thought’s too. I think I’ll just aim for 17.10 again this Friday and consider that a success. I have had to work soooo hard to get it down that 1.5 pounds. Yesterday I ended up just having 1200 calories, which is too low but if I eat up to my allowance of 1600 then I don’t lose weight and sometimes even put it on. I mean up 3 pounds for eating one extra sandwich and a few pieces of fruit? My motabolism is messed up! So I am going to have to have a few days of being strict.
It’s shopping day today only I can’t do any as I have to pay a big bill so God knows how I am going to get through the next week eating food my mother has in the house. If it’s healthy she doesn’t buy it! Gah, the prospect! I still have some things left from last weeks shop such as potatos, bread, yogurts, baked beans, sweetcorn, soup etc quite a ot actually but I need salad stuff and fruit - which is what no one in the house buys except me! I can survive, I guess!
Off to the gym today at some point to get going on my new workout. I’m really looking forward to it.
Groovybabe is 14.9 stones today and has lost 2lbs at her last weigh in.

Hi,
You’re doing a great job. Remember when it comes to food, quality matters. For the workout you’re doing, your body needs those quality calories. Don’t get too down on yourself. Day to day pounds will fluctuate as they do during the cycles of your month! You’re doing a fantastic job. I saw your new stats. 11 inches in 6 weeks! WOW! You go girl!
Enjoy your successes,
Cindy
It could be that your daily allowance is too high and needs to be brought down a little but only you would know that. Watch out with lowering your numbers on your food intake since it could scare your body into starvation mode and slow down your metabolism. It happens to me all the time and I look heavier every time. (boo!) Most of it is bloat so it goes away quickly once I’m back on track.
A while ago I started thinking of food as an energy equation where if what I eat is paired up to the type of day (exercise, monthly girliness, chores…) I have then I can have energy all day, not get that “I ate too much/little” bloat and I maintain when I can’t workout even if it’s for long periods of time. It sounds like a weird way to think about food but technically food is just fuel for the body… I’m not sure how it became something we had to have tones of. Must be good marketing on behalf of Kraft foods.
BTW - don’t forget women bloat all the time sometimes due to food other times due to weather and other times just because we can. Sometimes maintaining is just as big of a success than losing.
Darn hormones!
I’m so glad you are enjoying your new workout!
Remember that the 3lb fluctuation is not likely just from the sandwich. Maybe you’ve had more sodium intake this week, or less water. Maybe your hormones are fluctuating this week. There are so many uncontrollable reasons for the otherwise-inexplicable gains - don’t worry too much over it. There’s a great thing in the 3 Fat Chick forums about it, if you’re on there.
Good luck with this week - sounds like you still have healthy options, it’ll just take a little more work. Boourns to work!
Yeah guys, you got me. Today my stomach started playing up, which means I will come on my period one week from today. Which means I’m bloated and achy and puffy and all kinds of things! Thanks for your support. xx
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…you are so there mentally. I wish that the mental part could click for me.
Thanks Rachel! I have never been so together mentally since I’ve been fat so hopefully it’s gonna happen!
Just keep doing what you’ve been doing C. You have been losing every week. It doesn’t sound like it needs adjusting. Might be the introduction of the new workout is just what you need. Changing it up a bit will help I’m sure!
