Skin

By Groovybabe • Jul 24th, 2007 • Category: product review

After years of neglect I suffer from dry skin. Over the last couple of years I have tried on and off (more off than on) to fix that with various lotions. For the past year I have taken my skin more seriously but I am sad to say it is only since I have seen my body start to get smaller that I have been religiously applying lotion.

Some lotions have been better than others, the vaseline range is quite good, but nothing comes anywhere near being as good as Palmers Olive Butter Formula (see right). I normally find lotions with a thick texture to be misleading as they are generally rubbish but as soon as this “formula” is rubbed into the skin it becomes like my skin never had a history of being dry. Even hours later, where normally my skin would look dry within the hour, my skin remains baby soft. For up to 48 hours, in fact. That is how good this product is.

At only £3 for 250ml, it is worth every penny.

  1. I swear by Clinique’s Dramatically Different moisturizing lotion. It’s so nice! It’s so expensive so I get it at duty free. 20 bucks for a big bottle and it comes with a tiny face wash bar and a tiny toner bottle. wahoo!

If I run into your olive butter, I might buy some. Damo has dry skin too, he might be keen! We found this face wash that is so great… Nivea Visage gentle something something and it has little pink microbeads in it. It’s the creamiest face wash ever and doesn’t make your face feel all dry and tight after washing it.

  2. I have a big problem was alot of the creams and stuff… I am currently getting pimples and wrinkles and dry skin, so it is hard to find some kind of miracle cream that does all of it. grrrrrr

  3. Ooh I wonder how that would work with my psycho skin - insanely sensitive to some chemicals and scents, dry but also prone to breakouts if using thick lotions. Hmm, time to hunt for a sample size!

I have sworn by Cetaphil’s daily moisturiser with SPF15 for ages, because it’s light, non-comodegenic, hypoallergenic and has a little sunscreen in it. Lately, though, it hasn’t been packing as much of a punch to the dryness as it has in the past.

  4. I hope it is okay with you that I gave you an award…you can go to my blog to check it out…

  5. I am a HUGE palmer’s fanatic. It’s the best. I don’t think anything could ever compare to it.

  6. lol…i jsut bought a big bottle of their Shea Butter version last nite…..having not read your post before hand.

today’s my first day, and i am quite pleased. usually i use scented lotions from Bath &Body Works but lately i’ve just wanted to wear lotion. and not have to contemplate the right scent of lotion to go with my perfume.

i’ve become more aware lately. primarily since i have sooo much weight to lose, i’d like to prevent “loose skin” if i can help it.
