Being Pro Active

By Groovybabe • Aug 13th, 2007 • Category: clubbing, food, goals, water

While I was out on Saturday night I bumped into a friend from university whom I haven’t seen for two years. She noticed my weightloss!!! How great a booster was that?!

I have fluctuated a couple of pounds today, grr! I knew I should not have eaten ready salted crisps last night, but still I did it! I really have to learn to stay away from the evil crisps!! That really is the only vice I have left these days so I should know to just stay away! I should be moving out of my parents any day now and into my own lush apartment so at least I won’t have crisps in the house because I won’t buy them!! My water levels could also be to blame for the fluctuation too. The last few days my water has really dwindled down to almost nothing again (and I’m bound to be dehydrated from my drinking session on Saturday night). I have to fight the urge not to drink water! See, I am far from perfect in this weightloss battle.

This past year has been a really pro-active one for me after the diabolical mess that was last year. Last year I moved back into my parents with the plan of staying 6 weeks only but then I lost my job and was forced to stay. I developed anxiety disorder (panic attacks) in a very severe way that then lead onto agoraphobia and came to rely on state handouts due to my inability to function. But as soon as this year started things began to change. In January I became self employed. In March an old friend, whose friendship I really missed, got in touch again and my social life started up again, in March I started sporadically going to the gym, which helped me to combat my agoraphobia and in May started to take my weightloss seriously. I am now in August and am 2 stones down and have just found a way to regain my independence by getting my own place. Things are getting better and better.

I still have a number of things that I wish to accomplish by the end of this year, but my confidence is so much higher than it was this time last year. I have been teaching myself French on and off for the past 6 months or so and in September I am going to sign up for an evening class so I can really get my teeth into it. I want a job. To become financially secure. I’d love to meet someone. I want to lose another three stones by the end of the year. I want to make more friends in real life.

Whatever happens, this year has - so far - turned out to be a very productive one.

Groovybabe is 14.11 stones today and feeling in control.

  1. Thank you for your positive comments on my blog! I am positive we can do this. I have only lost 9 pounds but I feel so much better already. I will keep an eye on your progress… soon we will be running down the beach in our bikinis! LOL!

  2. i am sooo rpoud of you! you are really taking your life in your hands and making a difference.

it is soo easy to become complaent…and i’ve been feeling that in my life a bit altely….i want to move and shake things up a bit. i’ll probably be posting about that in the near future.

  3. Yay C! If you read this blog a year ago you’d never think it was you writing! You’re changing inside and out!

  4. Lyn - it really is amazing how quickly you feel a difference once you start losing. Good on you for making positive changes.

LadyT - Thanks. These changes we’re making are nothing if not about positivity. We’ll get there!

Betz - That’s so lovely. Actually I was just thinking how I am all for positivity (in others as well as myself) these days whereas a year ago I would have embraced other people’s negativity because I was so depressed my self. Life has really changed for me in the last year and with that my behaviour, attitude and everything else. A large part of that is down to my weightloss and having supportive people, like you, around me. x

  5. What awesome progress! I think that’s just fantastic - and a lot of milestones in a year. It’s always such a nice boost when people who haven’t seen you in a while notice your efforts. I love it!
