Weigh In (Week 10)

By Groovybabe • Aug 17th, 2007 • Category: being motivated, diet management, stuggling, weighing in, weightloss rules, xenical

As you are no doubt aware, the past week has been quite a stressful one for me. Not least because I have been fluctuating up quite a bit. I lost 2lbs in the beginning of the week but toward the second half of the week I fluctuated up 3lbs. While some have put this down to me going out at the weekend, I think it was more likely that I’d come off the Xenical. It was 2 days after I’d recovered from my night out that I started to fluctuate, after all. Plus I have now been back on the Xenical for two days and my weight is dropping again.

When I initially got on the scales this morning, it read 16.13, which is fab. Fantastic in fact. But I didn’t measure my body fat etc so I hopped back on only to not be able to get that weight again! I jumped on loads of times and got 17.0 and 17.1 in equal amounts. I got on the scale one last time and said whatever that says is the weight I will record this week. It was 17.1. So this means I weighed in the same as last week, albeit minus 1/4 of a pound. I would like to say I consider this good as I thought I would be up etc and while it *is* good that I am not up, a quarter pound loss is not an adequate loss and I would be kidding myself if I thought it was. But on the plus side, the scale did keep flickering between 16.13 and 17.1 so I think I will end up having a good amount to record next Friday. I am quite excited by that actually.

My other stats were not great, either. Fat weight I went up a pound and a half, fat percentage went up too and water went down - all the wrong direction! But I am far from detered because I have learned some really valuable lessons this week. And let’s face it, this is the consequences of my playing with my weightloss (coming off the tablets, binging) and as such I am fully accepting that if I am going to do that then I must face the consequences. These were my actions on my body. I am fully responsible. It is not my body hating me, or medical science up the swanny. It is me and my actions that reduced my success this week. And that is what makes the next week all the better - because I am going to learn from my mistakes and get a good result in week 11.

  1. hey! you’re making great progress. i know weighing yourself every day works for you, but don’t get too neurotic about it. your body can fluctuate by a few pounds every day, and also… all that water weight/body/fat stuff is definitely not accurate, so don’t pay too much attention to it, let alone worry about what it says.

honestly, i’m totally getting back to normal and it’s only happened when i’ve let go and stopped being neurotic about everything. you’d think meal planning and regimented hardcore workouts would be the answer, but it’s not… don’t fall into a similar trap!

  2. Dana - Thanks! Being regimented is the only way that works for me. I’ve tried the being laidback approach and it just doesn’t work out. I must admit that I am starting to hate the cross trainer with a passion but I cannot argue that what I am doing is working.

People always said to me that writing everything down was the answer but every time I tried I ended up thinking about food and ended up binging and yet I have been recording my food for 10 weeks now and it totally keeps me on track. I have to say I don’t plan meals though, I just see whats around and what I fancy within reason and keep the portion sizes down.

I guess it is different strokes for different folks. It’s funny you were doing the regimented thing before and now a more laidback approach is working for you and I started laidback and its the regimented approach that works for me.

I guess I am not that regimented with all the vodka drinking I plan on doing this weekend ;)

  3. Vodka schmodka! I’ve got a nice glass of Australian Rose Wine. heh heh I also had a burger piled HIGH with lettuce and tomato and avocado for dins. Yum!

Well, the Xenical excitement didn’t make you gain! Don’t knock the 1/4 pound though! There will be days in the future when .01 lb is GREAT! ha ha… Ugh!

Does your aussie bar have a jukebox? :)

  4. LOL! I love dinners piled high with veggies. Yesterday I had this veggie burger thing that had like lentils and stuff in it, 110 calories for a whole burger! And I had new potatoes, aspargus, spinach leaves, cucumber, orange pepper, 1/2 an advocado and a boiled flat mushroom. It was yummiola. Go us!

It definitely would have made me gain a year ago. i’d have gained 30lbs putting me even heavier than when I started but no! I am a different person now, who thinks differently and what I do works so why sabotage that?

I’m not sure if it does or not actually lol. I usually go when there is a DJ though, why?

  5. I must tell you that your weight loss posts have been very inspirational. I’ve also been dieting to get rid of the excess weight that I’ve been putting on lately, and they’ve made me feel a lot better about all my ups and downs. Thank you!

  6. Oh just wondering if there was an Australian music selection available to you at the pub :) Maybe a few NZ songs snuck in there too!

Damo made the mistake of wondering aloud whether he could go a whole week without eating meat. I just told him we’re going to find out.

Heh heh..I’m going to have to stock up on vegetarian ideas!

  7. Oh god he said no pasta, potatoes, or other starchy stuff either. yikes!

  8. *HUGS* :)

  9. Betz - the DJ does tend to play Aussie music a lot, yeah. I don’t think I’ve heard any kiwi though. I don’t think kiwi music is really heard here at all, at least I can’t think of any.

No meat is good, great in fact. Here in the UK there is a wide selection of veggie replacements but clubcat told me there is not in NZ so not sure how you’ll go about that… defo have salmon if you’re eating fish, pasta too, felafels are nice…

Not so sure on the no starchy stuff though, I certainly couldn’t manage it. I rely on that stuff to keep my hunger at bay. I know it’s popular to cut down on those things but I haven’t and it hasn’t done me any harm. I don’t think it’d hurt to go without bread for a week though… I think have that stuff as long as its wholewheat wherever possible.
