Glad It’s Over
By Groovybabe • Sep 26th, 2007 • Category: gym, stugglingHave you ever had a workout session that you wished was over before you even stepped foot inside of the gym? Today was one of those days for me.
I did actually sleep quite a long time last night, considering I slept half of the day away too. I fell to sleep naturally at about 9pm but was wide awake an hour later so I took a tablet and must have gone back to slee about 11pm. I then slept until 2am and woke up for about half an hour before going back to sleep and getting up with my alarm at 7am. Despite having over 8 hours sleep (albeit broken), waking up this morning was a real ordeal. It was down to the tablets, they make my muscles feel weaker and like I can’t be bothered to do anything.
However, given that I slept a substantial amount of time for the first time in weeks I decided it was my day to take on the world. So we got ready and I took my son to school. Normally a 25 minute walk, I must have been on a mission because I knocked 5 minutes off my time. Then I got the bus to the gym and did my two hour session.Everything was an ordeal today, especially the XT. In one way the time on there (25 minutes) passed quite quickly because I was in a daze for most of it but in another way every stride was killing me further. I didn’t put as much effort in as I did the other day and averaged a speed of 8.5 and my heart rate didnt go any higher than 128 but I think part of that is me being fitter. I must have really worked my body the other day because I noticed generally how much lower my heart rate stayed today. I did the VO2 test again today and it was 34.1 when it was 32.2 on Monday, so there has been an improvement.
My moods have lifted over the last few days. I’m still not in a perfect mood but on a scale of 1-10, on Monday I was probably -10 and now I am probably about a 5 or 6. I knew exercise was so important in managing my moods, I don’t doubt I would be suicidal by now If I’d not gone back to the gym when I did! I have given myself 3 workouts to feel more back on track (with moods, eating etc) and 2 workouts in I feel I am very on track.
Groovybabe is 14.11 stones today and feeling in control.

Good for you for getting in all that exercise! That is great!
And I’m glad your mood has lifted. We all get down from time to time. So hang in there! I think exercising helps with that alot, too. So keep up the good work!
The one really great thing about a day when you struggle to do things…is the satisfaction you get out of being finished. Job well done!
Thanks guys.
