Weigh In (Week 17)

By Groovybabe • Oct 5th, 2007 • Category: diet management, food, hunger, weighing in, weightloss, weightloss rules

I have a fantastic six pound loss to report this week. LOL! It goes in fits and starts, doesn’t it? For a few weeks I struggle to lose 1lb, then I see a gain and then I lose 6lbs! To be fair I did have a couple of days where I barely ate due to stress taking away my appitite, which is sure to have been an influence in losing so much but even so, it’s pretty good, huh?

The last couple of days I don’t know what I have been like with food because I haven’t been writing it down, but I know I haven’t been great. If I had been I’d have seen a bigger loss as my current 15.10 showed up on the scales 2 days ago. I was just going through a ‘can’t be bothered to log my food’ phase. It didn’t mean I wasn’t interested in being good, because I was. I ate too much one early morning and then went without food until I was absolutely starving, which was about 4pm. But today I am going to start logging again, just because I feel safer when I do.

Actually this past week I have found out what it is like to get hungry again. This is not a bad thing, not at all, I certainly wasn’t starving myself by any stretch of the imagination, but for weeks I have been constantly eating when I feel hungry and I was probably only thirsty but this week I have been eating more when I need to rather than when I want to and I like it like that. It’s what got me through this initial stage of weightloss and trains me to understand the world is not going to collapse around me if I detect a hunger pang!

Oh, a little tip: If you don’t get much sleep, don’t weigh in in the morning! I have come to realise the scales lie if your body hasn’t fully rested up. I can weigh in after only 3 hours sleep and it will say I am 2-3lbs heavier than when I get another 3 hours sleep and weigh in again! Good news though, my money has come through so I can now order a bed and hopefully start to get a better nights sleep!!!

Groovybabe is 14.11 stones today and feeling in control.

  1. Bloody hell! Thats amazing! Well done! :o)

  2. I saw on one of the docco’s/science shows I watch far too much of that obesity has been linked to insomnia. I know that if I don’t sleep, it doesn’t matter if I’ve eaten or drunk anything, I’ll be far heavier than I expect to be.

    Congrats!

  3. really spectacular loss!
I have noticed the weigh-in in the morning thing. I don’t fall asleep most nights until 4:00am so I know what you are talking about.

  4. That’s fantastic!

  5. Congrats on the weight loss! That is awesome! And I’m so glad you’re getting a new bed! :)

  6. Naiiad - Yeah I’ve heard about that link too. Going from personal experience it seems that during sleep important processes go on within the body..like weightloss happens during sleep or something.

Chubby Chick - Thanks! It’s already ordered and will be arriving on Tuesday - only four more sleeps!!

  7. How weird, I mentioned in my new post that I hadn’t weighed in because I wasn’t sleeping well and then checked over here. Glad to see someone agrees!

Congratulations on the loss, 6lbs in one week is insanely good!

  8. Big congrats on the weight lost!

  9. WOW!! Well done on the weight loss (insert curtsey here please) you ROCK!!

I’ve noticed that my scale lies if I get up too early too, I’ve tried to figure out patterns but ended up just figuring out that the scale is frustrating hunk of metal and glass that I’ll battle with as long as I live.
