Action Plan

By Groovybabe • Oct 11th, 2007 • Category: food, goals, hunger, stuggling

I’ve made a decision. For one week (initially) I am giving up bread. I eat too much of it and I don’t seem to be able to control my portions of it. Due to this I will see a gain in my weigh in tomorrow :’( and I have to put a stop to it. No bread, no pitta, no buns, nothing. Wholemeal or otherwise. No sandwiches! Not sure how I will survive this but its the only staple food that I cannot control, so no control, no have!

Alllllsssoooo, water. I am upping my water. I have pretty much given up on that the last few weeks and am pretty sure it is playing a major part in my struggles. So I am making a massive effort with water now. I’ve drank 1/4 of my daily goal of 2 litres already and its only 9.33am! So, yeah. And hopefully this will help curb my appitite.

Plus I am making it my business to log everything I eat, drink and exercise again. My problems also began around the time I stopped doing this. I have found it hard to get back into the swing of doing this so I am going to purchase a new pretty pad today. That worked last time.

I know what I have to do and I am going to try my hardest to achieve these goals. My attitude towards dieting needs to improve, like yesterday! My sleep is gradually improving now, so that is really going to help my outlook towards food and not eating in the night but I need to be in the 14 era by Xmas! So this is the plan!!

Groovybabe is 14.9 stones today and has lost 2lbs at her last weigh in.

  1. Changin’ it up and seeing what works is a good thing. Hope it works! :)

  2. what about doing something more moderate like not having any bread after lunch at all? do what works for you, try it out, but don’t get all neurotic about carbs like i am :/

i was just looking at your stats and my mind is boggling at the 50lbs weight loss… wow… that’s amazing. don’t beat yourself up too much.. your determination is fantastic and NECESSARY… but don’t be too hard on yourself is all i’m saying. you are doing amazingly well.

  3. That is so funny - I made the same decision this week! For me the biggest change is losing that bagel and cream cheese I’ve been eating most every day. I started doing this on Tuesday, with little else changed in my diet, and the results have already been amazing in terms of what I am seeing on the scale. Not going to jinx myself because things can certainly change between today and my weigh-in on Sunday, but it could be a record-setter for me. And if it is, I would attribute it to just cutting the bread.

  4. Hey you know that’s a good idea to give up bread. I had to just cos I’m allergic but it’s surprisingly easy to live without it. I eat a lot more rice and pasta anyway. Also, it really cuts the snacking! And it makes you feel less bloated. Really, I bet you’ll have great results.

Well done on your water drinking! That’s hard for me too and I *like* water!

  5. Good Luck with the experiment.
I sometimes shake my whole plan up for a few days if I have been having serious problems sticking to it…going low carb makes me crave salads and fresh vegetables again…a good thing.

  6. Betz - Thanks!

Dana - Yeah, I don’t wanna get too hooked up on specific food groups coz I get far too obsessed far too easily! This is ot about carbs at all, just the evil bread. I swear the chemicals in it are making me want to eat more.

Yeah I was thinking yesterday, over all my rate of loss is a good one, something like 2.6 pounds per week, so I am trying not to beat myself up. But I’ve seen a gain this week and I have to stop it before it gets out of hand :(

John - what do you eat in place of bread? Sandwiches make up an important part of my lunch. I had Ryvitta crackers today, which was different but I don’t know how I’ll account for every day!

Jackie - I won’t be eating more pasta and rice because it is too calorific, and although this is not about carbs I dont want to go too high with my carbs. Hopefully I can just eat Ryvitta instead! Last time I went without bread and potatoes and lost a stone in 2 weeks!!!

Kathy - Thanks! I love fruit and veg so if that happens then great! Although my main concern is lowering my appitite.

  7. I am using hearts of romaine leaves in place of bread. Makes for sort of a messy sandwich, but it works. This morning I made eggs benedict with a portobello mushroom instead of the english muffin but it retained too much water and while it tasted good there was just too much liquid on the plate. At Chipotle this week I had a Burrito Bol (no tortilla) and while this time I did have it with rice I think next time I’ll try it without the rice and maybe they can put in some more fajita vegetables.

  8. Thanks for that John!

  9. I’m sure your extra effort will pay off!
