Weightloss Websites

By Groovybabe • Oct 28th, 2007 • Category: weightloss websites

I made a deal with myself to blog every day but I am running thin on things to talk about today (mainly due to the diet going well - yay) so I thought I would focus on websites that help me. Maybe they’ll help you too?

www.weightlossresources.co.uk - this is a diet and exercise database website. You list what you eat and burn off as a way of keeping track of your intake. There is seperate UK and US food brand databases. It also has a forum.

Groovybabe’s comments: I first used this website in 2004 and lost 2 stones with it so when I was recently struggling I decided to give it another whizz and it is really quite good. Mainly for telling you how many calories you can safely eat and for keeping you on track. The forum is okay, the people are supportive but I am not too keen on weightloss forums because everyone thinks they know best and try to force what works for them on you.

www.43things.com - A website where you can list 43 things you want/want to achieve and you can tick them off when they’re done.

Groovybabe’s comments: This is quite a nifty tool. I have used it to list weightloss related things I want to achieve. It also has sister site 43places.com for places you want to visit.

www.weightwatchers.co.uk/assessments - This webpage will tell you your BMI, how much 10% of your body weight is and has a quiz to tell how ready for weightloss you are.

Groovybabe’s comments: This is quiote a good page that I return to from time to time. Very handy for working out your BMI and 10% body weight. I don’t rate the quiz so much.

www.fitnessandlifestyle.co.uk - This is a exercise and fitness forum.

Groovybabe’s comments: I found this forum very early on in my journey. The people are very friendly, welcoming and helpful - not to mention supportive. I don’t go there nearly as often as I should.

www.fitday.com - a food database where you can log your daily intake.

Groovybabe’s comments: This is not bad as a free basic website for logging food. It is limited in what it offers but if you are just wanting somewhere to write your food down then this is okay. I don’t like that it is just a US food database and I had to ‘add a food’ for everything I ate. Plus I got too obsessed with the different types of food I ate.

What websites do you use?

Groovybabe is 14.11 stones today and feeling in control.

  1. Calorie Count Plus (About.com)
It’s free. Has food and exercise logs. Recipe nutritional analysis, forums..very good site. As you said, one can become obsessed with the food eaten and counting calories.

    Blogs
Lots of inspiration and tips, from people who are trying to lose weight.

  2. When I’m calorie-counting, I swear by SparkPeople. It’s free and very easy to use.

I *love* the 3 Fat Chicks forums for support and motivation.

Recently I’ve started using FridgeGraph as well, and so far it’s been easy and helpful.

  3. I’ll add mapmyrun.com to your list. Its a great site to plot out a walking route and know the distance of your walk!
