eggs

I had a really good day yesterday. I stayed on track - despite insomnia, only sleeping 3 hours and not getting that sleep until 7am - and my body is thanking me for it.

I love eggs. I try not to eat too many of them as they can clog up your arteries but I do tend to eat them as much as possible. Whether it is as an omelette, fried (with spray oil) or as scrambled eggs, I love them. Well there is now research to suggest that eating eggs leads to more successful dieting. Apparently, if you have an egg or two for breakfast you are up to 65% more likely to stay on track for the entire day!

The researchers recorded the women’s eating habits and found that just before lunch, the women who had eaten eggs for breakfast felt less hungry and ate a smaller lunch as a result. Better still, over the next 36 hours the group eating the egg-containing breakfast consumed, on average, 417 calories less than the bagel-eating group… Eggs are packed with a variety of nutrients including protein, zinc, iron and vitamins A, D, E and B12, but contain just 85 calories each.

So, there you have it. I know that yesterday I had an omelette and I managed to stay on track quite easily. I am not sure how much that was to do with the egg or my resolution but it worked.

  1. I love eggs as well. When I had help from a nutritionist she didn’t frown on me having eggs everyday. I think one egg (or two) is fine per day. It definitely leaves me satisfied. Looks like a good first day by the way.

  2. Yeah, that article I linked to says nutritionists no longer frown upon eating eggs every day, so its all good. Thanks yeah, I am at the end of my second day now and that is going well too. This is going to be a good time for losing, I think.

  3. As I said several posts back…I think you are now embarking on the last part of your weight loss journey.

  4. I really hope you’re right! x
